Nicks life changed after a horrific Motorcycle accident in Feb. 2009, on his way to Richmond Football Clubs Open Day resulting in him being in a coma for 3 weeks. He was on the verge of death with broken bones, severed nerve canals and perforated organs. Throughout this traumatic time, he remained motivated and positive, remembering what Tom had said to him in 2001:
“From that day in 2001 I had a lot greater outlook on life and on myself. Those words went a long way in defining the person I am today but the mental struggle was made a lot easier. I believed in what Tom told me about and put it into practice and is one of the reasons I am where I am today. My battle with these debilitating injuries and chronic pain has made me see why positive thinking sure makes my battle easier”
